Are you having trouble getting those lovely thick suds out of your foam cannon?? Here’s some tips on to get those thick suds for an easier and more effective clean.
The first step to having thick foam is having good pressure on your pressure washer and a high GPM( gallons per minute). The issue with the electric pressure washers is that they tend to lack both pressure and GPM. Proper pressure washer maintenance is also key. When you have a gas pressure washer, be sure to change the oil regularly and don’t it run out of gas. Just like your car, letting the pump run dry/low is not good and can result in pump that needs to be replaced.
This one is pretty simple but the thicker the soap is, the thicker the foam will come out the foam cannon. Although, thick doesn’t always mean good cleaning capabilities. Make sure you pick a soap that can produce thick suds but also make cleaning effortless. Some soaps are very thick but don’t do a good job at losing dirt, bird dropping, etc.
Whether you’re a professional detailer or a weekend warrior, it’s important to clean your foam cannon consistently. When foam is produced through the cannon, there’s a lot of left-over soap/foam that gets stuck in the mouth of the cannon. If it’s allowed to dry long enough, you may see a reduced amount of foam or your foam cannon may stop working altogether.
To also help with creating thicker foam always try to use warm water in the foam cannon. Make sure you’re using the right dilution ratios as well as too little or too much and can disrupt the suds and the cleaning power.
A seemingly filthy wheel was made clean again with just a pressure washer. Thanks to the ceramic coating applied to those wheels in the video above I was able to clean them with no effort and I decreased the chance of scratching them significantly. Ceramic coatings bond to the paint providing a layer of protection. This does two things, your wheels will take less of a beating when getting cleaned(no scratches). Two, you get wheels that shine like no other year-round. At the end of the day, your car is an investment and for an extra 5% of the cost you keep your investment looking sharp.
People always ask “Why should I ceramic coat a car if I still have to maintain it?” The whole car requires year- year maintenance. The oil you change quarterly, the tires you change every 30k-40k, etc… Whether you live in Las Vegas where it reaches temps of 115, or live in Buffalo, NY where the snow comes down 3-4 months out of the year, the weather is not very kind on car paint. Paint is very delicate contrary to popular belief. Maintaining your ceramic coating after you have it applied is the only way to make sure it lasts up to its expected timeline. Just like your detailer hopefully clay barred your car before applying your coating, your ceramic coating will need to be clay barred annually to make sure to get all those contaminants off the car that don’t come off during the washing process.
